Art Director

Job Description:

As an Art Director at Essence Adverts, you will lead the visual language of campaigns and content across multiple platforms. You’ll bring concepts to life through compelling design direction, guiding creative teams to deliver work that is not only beautiful, but strategically grounded and results-driven. You’ll work side-by-side with copywriters, strategists, and production leads to ensure every piece of communication delivers on the idea, brand tone, and client goals. From brand launches to viral content, your art direction will define the aesthetic standard for our agency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the visual development of integrated campaigns, branding systems, and content series across digital and offline platforms.
  • Translate strategic and conceptual briefs into compelling creative directions with a strong visual identity.
  • Supervise the execution of creative assets by designers, illustrators, and motion graphic artists to ensure excellence and consistency.
  • Collaborate with copywriters and Creative Directors to create cohesive campaign ideas with powerful storytelling and visual harmony.
  • Oversee the production of key visuals, digital content, OOH layouts, and presentation designs.
  • Present concepts to internal teams and clients, articulating creative rationale with clarity and impact.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level designers, fostering a culture of high creative standards, growth, and collaboration.
  • Stay ahead of visual trends, design tools, and cultural movements to keep Essence Adverts’ creative work fresh and competitive.
Qualifications :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related creative field.
  • 6+ years of experience in graphic design, with at least 2 years in an art direction or senior creative role at an agency.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing campaign art direction, branding, and digital-first content.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); After Effects and Figma are a plus.
  • Deep understanding of design systems, layout, typography, and content hierarchy across platforms.
  • Experience directing shoots, guiding motion graphics, and leading the creative execution process end-to-end.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to pitch ideas confidently to clients and leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage timelines, and uphold high creative standards under tight deadlines.
